The majority of the buildings, products, and paintings in the world utilize the silver ratio in their planning and design. However, as a whole, these are but a small fraction of the many ways the silver ratio can be employed. I created Silver Cloak with the aim of showcasing the different ways the silver ratio manifests itself in the world. Aluminum sheets large enough to cover a person were embossed with 988 rectangles in various sizes following a pattern based on the silver ratio. The result is a reptilian skin-like organic appearance with the increased strength and flexibility of the aluminum sheet. As we’re looking at these patterns, we can think about the similarities that exist between the silver ratio and living organisms.
